GN-0000DVR Gundam 00 Diver

GN-0000DVR Gundam 00 Diver is Riku Mikami's Gunpla in Gundam Build Divers (2018), built on the GN-0000 00 Gundam and flown in Gunpla Battle Nexus Online. Its blue and white scheme comes from sports uniforms, not from Celestial Being.

What it does in the story

Riku learns in this machine: he takes it against Do-ji's Zedas in episode one, then faces Ogre's GN-X and tries Trans-Am. It holds for a moment, then a shoulder GN Drive gives out and the model is helpless.

What makes it different

  • Trans-Am is inherited, not mastered. The 00 Gundam's GN Drives carry Trans-Am and the Diver keeps it. Whether it works in GBN depends on build quality, and Riku's is not good enough: activation lifts the specs more than threefold, then the drive blows out.
  • The GN Sword II was reworked for a beginner. The 00's sword switches between sword, rifle and beam saber modes. Riku adjusted his pair so the modes change without the blade rotation mechanism, which is quicker in a fight but departs from the original action.
  • The verniers sit on the cone thrusters. He added verniers and wings to the base of the cone thrusters, and mobility ends up far closer to the 00 Raiser's than the base kit's.
  • Three weapons are borrowed from other kits. Looking for a way to fight without Trans-Am, he bolted on the MMI-710 Excalibur from a Sword Impulse, the DODS Rifle from a G-Bouncer and the BLASH beam rifle from a GM Sniper.

1. Why does the 00 Diver's Trans-Am fail?

Trans-Am multiplies performance for a short window, and the strain is more than Riku's workmanship can take: a GN Drive fails almost as soon as it engages.

2. Why does the 00 Diver have antennae?

Riku added them and the sensor functions improved with them, but the High Grade manual is blunt: he put them on because they looked strong.

3. What is different from the 00 Gundam?

The head, the colours, the verniers and wings at the cone thrusters, and the reworked GN Sword II pair. The frame and Trans-Am come from the 00 Gundam.
