GN-000 0 Gundam, pronounced Oh Gundam, is the first mobile suit Celestial Being built around a GN Drive, finished around A.D. 2290 on Krung Thep. It opens Mobile Suit Gundam 00 (2007-08) as the machine the series' Gundams descend from. Ribbons Almark flies it early on; Lasse Aeon takes it out much later.
What it does in the story
During an intervention trial in Krugis in A.D. 2301, Ribbons is ordered to kill every combatant there, spares the young Soran Ebrahim and then edits Veda's records to recommend him as a Gundam Meister. The suit spends the following years with Fereshte, whose Gundams borrow its GN Drive until it goes into the 00 Gundam. Without a drive, the airframe gets a particle tank and a new paint job as the Type A.C.D.
What makes it different
-
Its particle wings were never repeated.
The GN Feathers release a cloud of GN Particles that two clavicle antennae shape into something like angel wings. They steady the suit, jam radar and blunt attacks, but burn so many particles that no later Gundam carried the feature.
-
Its drive is bigger than later ones.
The cone on the back protrudes further because the drive's support equipment was not yet miniaturised. The suit set the layout the line followed: drive as main engine, weapons fed by its output, clavicle antennae, v-fin and twin camera eyes.
-
Its data was copied.
Readings from it shaped second-generation machines such as the GNY-001 Gundam Astraea, and Ribbons and the Corner family copied the same data into the Throne series.
How big is it?
- Head height: 18.0 m, with a dry weight of 53.4 t, according to Bandai's official spec
- 1/144: roughly 12.5 cm, which covers the HG00 kits

Frequently asked questions
1. Why is it called the 0 Gundam?
It is the first Gundam Celestial Being built, so it takes 0 rather than a number in a series. The Exia and everything after descend from its data.
2. What does Type A.C.D. mean?
Actual Combat Deployment: the same airframe with a large GN Condenser in place of the GN Drive, sent out for the final battle against the Innovators.
3. Where did its GN Drive go?
Into the GN-0000 00 Gundam, for the Twin Drive tests, which is why it sits in a resource satellite through most of season two.
4. Was Trans-Am ever used on it?
No. It existed in theory because the suit had an original GN Drive, but the drive was powering other machines by the time Trans-Am was revealed.
