GF13-001NHII Master Gundam is Master Asia's mobile fighter in Mobile Fighter G Gundam (1994–1995, Future Century 60), registered to Neo Hong Kong for the 13th Gundam Fight. It is a development of the Kowloon Gundam he won the previous tournament with, built from DG cells, and controlled through the Mobile Trace System.
What it does in the story
It appears first in the old Shinjuku district of Tokyo during the Survival Eleven, wearing the shape of the Kowloon Gundam, and Master Asia uses that disguise to get close to his former student Domon Kasshu until Rain Mikamura exposes it. The fight that follows leaves the Shining Gundam beaten, and their rematch in the Guiana Highlands destroys the Master Gundam. The DG cells rebuild it, and it returns for the finals in Neo Hong Kong, seeded straight into the final battle royal as the previous champion.
What makes it different
-
The DG cells are held in check by the pilot.
Building the body from DG cells is what lets the suit pass for the Kowloon Gundam. Master Asia's mental strength stops the cells propagating or evolving on their own, so the only ability they are allowed is self-regeneration, which is how a destroyed machine comes back.
-
One shield does two jobs.
The Wing Shields deploy like a cloak in Normal Mode, covering the body and turning attacks aside. Folded back in Attack Mode they work as wings and stabilizers, and the mode lifts the suit's power the way the Shining Gundam's Super Mode does.
-
The forearms both stretch and launch.
The Near Crusher telescopes the forearm out of the elbow and strikes with the hand formed into a blade. The Distant Crusher fires the whole forearm at range on a beam wire and reels it back to reconnect.
How big is it?
- Overall height: 16.7 m according to Bandai's official spec, at a weight of 16.4 t
- 1/144: roughly 11.5 cm, which covers the HGFC release
- 1/100: roughly 16.5 cm, which covers the Master Grade

Frequently asked questions
1. What is the Master Cloth?
A length of cloth generated by a beam, able to cut like a saber, stiffen into a rod or wrap an opponent. Through the Mobile Trace System it is driven by the cloth Master Asia wears at his waist in the cockpit.
2. Does the Master Gundam have a horse?
Yes. Fuunsaiki is a mobile horse built as support for the suit, and sources disagree on whether it was developed for transport or awarded as the 12th Gundam Fight prize. Master Asia's own horse pilots it in a fighting suit, and it can carry a mobile fighter in atmospheric flight.
3. How many emitters does the Darkness Shot have?
Ten, five in the base of each palm. The Darkness Finger can also be used in Normal Mode by opening part of a wing shield.
4. Is it the same machine as the Kowloon Gundam?
No. It is a later machine developed from the Kowloon Gundam, and Gundam Fight procedure treats it as Master Asia switching rides. The DG-cell body lets it imitate the Kowloon's appearance closely enough to fool Domon at first.
