GAT-X207 Blitz Gundam is one of the five prototype mobile suits built under the Earth Alliance's G Project and introduced in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED (2002, C.E. 71). Morgenröte built it at the Orb Union's Heliopolis colony as the project's stealth unit, and after ZAFT seized it Nicol Amalfi flew it with the Le Creuset Team.
What it does in the story
The Blitz was still in its hangar at Heliopolis on 25 January C.E. 71 when ZAFT raided the colony and took it along with the Duel, Buster and Aegis. Nicol used it to chase the Archangel, with the last G Project machine, the Strike Gundam, as the prize. At the Eurasian fortress Artemis the cloaking let him slip past the Umbrella of Artemis and damage the base from the inside, and the suit later fought in the Battle of Orbit against the 8th space fleet, then went to Earth with the Aegis.
What makes it different
-
Its frame exists to carry the stealth system.
Of the five G Project prototypes only the Blitz uses the X200-series frame, which is built around experimental systems rather than standard armament. The Mirage Colloid that frame supports holds microscopic prisms in a magnetic field, and those prisms bend visible light and radio waves and block infrared emission, so the suit leaves both sight and sensors.
-
Cloaking switches its armour off.
Phase Shift armour is what makes the Blitz immune to bullets and missiles, but it is disabled while the Mirage Colloid runs. Power draw caps a cloaked sortie at about 80 minutes, and a cloaked Blitz that gets located has no protection at all.
-
Every weapon is mounted on an arm.
There is no head-mounted CIWS. The left forearm carries the Gleipnir, a rocket-propelled anchor with three folding claws on a line, and the right arm carries the Trikeros, a shield that also holds a 50 mm high-energy beam rifle, a beam saber and three Lancer Dart penetrators. Lose the Trikeros and most of the suit's firepower goes with it.
-
The black paint is functional.
The dark scheme supports the stealth system rather than identifying a pilot, and the internal mechanisms were quieted and heat dissipation managed so it stays hidden while cloaked.
How big is it?
- Overall height: 18.63 m, with an empty weight of 73.5 t
- 1/144: roughly 12.9 cm

Frequently asked questions
1. Why is the Blitz the only G Project suit with its own frame?
It is the only one of the five built on the X200 series, a frame intended to support experimental systems. That is what makes room for the Mirage Colloid, and why the armament is packed into the arms.
2. How long can the Blitz stay invisible?
About 80 minutes. The limit is the power the Mirage Colloid draws, which competes with the Phase Shift armour for the same power.
3. Does the Blitz carry a handheld rifle?
No. The beam rifle is built into the Trikeros shield on its right arm, with the beam saber and the Lancer Darts, so it never holds a separate gun.
4. What is the Gleipnir for?
It is a rocket-propelled grappling claw fired from the left forearm to pierce or grab a target and then reeled back in. The Sword Strike's Panzer Eisen is the same idea.
