GAT-X105+AQM/E-X02 Sword Strike Gundam

GAT-X105+AQM/E-X02 Sword Strike Gundam is the Strike Gundam wearing the AQM/E-X02 Sword Striker, the G Project's close-quarters pack for Mobile Suit Gundam SEED (2002, C.E. 71). Kira Yamato flies it, and the X02 in the designation is the pack, not a second airframe.

What it does in the story

It first sorties at Heliopolis to stop ZAFT GINNs inside a colony already coming apart, where the sword and the boomerang kill Miguel Aiman. It goes out again at Artemis against the cloaked Blitz, takes the amphibious fights in the Red Sea, and at the second battle near Orb cuts into the Blitz's cockpit.

What makes it different

  • The sword is 15.78 m long. The Schwert Gewehr is a physical blade with a laser edge, sized to cut a mobile suit in half or take the guns off a ship. The Strike carries the prototype: a short beam emitter where the production design had a laser gun.
  • The left forearm is a rocket anchor. Panzer Eisen fires an anchor on a reinforced polymer cable that can grip or crush what it hits. The reel housing is built in and the unit is anti-beam coated, so it doubles as a shield.
  • The third weapon comes back. Midas Messer is a beam boomerang whose condenser keeps the blade alive after it leaves the hand, so it returns to be thrown again. It stows on the left shoulder armour.
