GAT-X105+AQM/E-X03 Launcher Strike Gundam

GAT-X105+AQM/E-X03 Launcher Strike Gundam is the Strike Gundam with the AQM/E-X03 Launcher Striker, the bombardment pack from the Earth Alliance's G Project in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED (2002, C.E. 71). Kira Yamato flies it first and Mu La Flaga inherits it later.

What it does in the story

Its first sortie is at Heliopolis, where the Agni takes the arm off Rau Le Creuset's CGUE and opens a hole in the colony wall. The pack is later launched from the Archangel's catapult mid-battle to re-power the Strike against the captured G-Units. Mu's last fight with it is the duel against Rau's GuAIZ at Mendel.

What makes it different

  • The Agni is about 20 m long. The 320 mm hyper impulse cannon fires plasma in microsecond bursts, enough to take a mobile suit apart or punch through a colony wall. It hangs from an arm on the left of the backpack and braces under the left shoulder when fired.
  • The pod covers it while it fires. The Combo Weapons Pod on the right shoulder mounts a 120 mm anti-ship vulcan and two 350 mm launchers that throw grenades as well as missiles, with multi-target lock. It keeps mobile suits off a machine that has to stand still.
  • The weight is the price. Bandai lists 83.7 t with the pack fitted, and mobility drops with the load: a mobile turret rather than a duellist. Long bursts of fire only work hooked to an external supply.

3. Why did it struggle on Earth?

Against BuCUEs in the desert the movement program was not set up for sand, and the suit could barely move until Kira corrected the settings.
