GAT-04 Windam

GAT-04 Windam is the Earth Alliance's standard mobile suit in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny (2004–2005, C.E. 73). It succeeds the Dagger L and inherits the X100 frame family that began with the Strike Gundam.

What it does in the story

Windams take on most Earth Alliance work in C.E. 73, from Heaven's Base and Orb to the defence of the Requiem emitter at Daedalus. Phantom Pain commander Neo Roanoke flies a unit in his own purple and dark grey scheme, and Blue Cosmos remnants still field the type two years later.

What makes it different

• The Junius Treaty shaped it. The C.E. 72 treaty capped how many suits a nation could deploy, pushing the Alliance toward new machines rather than updated old ones. The Windam is that answer, keeping the X100 frame and adding leg and shoulder thrusters plus feet shaped for rough ground.
• The shoulder armour limits its packs. It keeps the Striker Pack system, and the AQM/E-A4E1 Jet Windam and Mk438/B Multi Striker Windam both reach service. The shoulder armour rules out the Sword and Launcher Strikers, so the heavy packs from the Strike's day never fit.
• The shield carries missiles and a blade. The A52 Offensive Shield Type E is beam-coated and has a cutting tip, with two Mk438/B Würger missiles on its back. Two Mk315 Stiletto penetrators ride in the side armour: thrown, then rocketed into a target to detonate.
