EB-AX2 Graze Ein

EB-AX2 Graze Ein is a Gjallarhorn prototype built from the organisation's secret Alaya-Vijnana research, appearing in the first season of Mobile Suit Gundam IRON-BLOODED ORPHANS (Post Disaster 323) with Ein Dalton joined into its cockpit. It uses the Graze frame but was designed around a pilot who feels the machine as his own body.

What it does in the story

Gjallarhorn left it unfinished at Vingolf because no regular pilot would accept the implants, and Ein becomes its only pilot after Gaelio agrees to the surgery that keeps him alive. It is deployed outside Edmonton, goes through Rouei suits and the Ryusei-Go, then enters the city after Kudelia Aina Bernstein.

What makes it different

  • The oversize limbs come from the control concept. The premise was unifying pilot and machine, which requires the pilot to recognise the suit's body as his own. Gjallarhorn reshaped the limbs to a form the human brain would accept.
  • The cockpit has no monitors. All information is projected onto Ein's retina, and a life-support system keeps him alive with the cockpit filled with nutrient fluid. Cables at his back, head and chest connect him to the frame.
  • The hands and feet are on the weapon list. The clawed feet fold into drills for a drill kick, and the fist spins at speed for a screw punch with the fingers locked. Both were designed around the direct pilot-to-machine link.

How big is it?

  • Height: 22.2 m per Bandai's official spec, at 38.6 t empty
  • 1/144: roughly 15 cm

Frequently asked questions

1. Is the Graze Ein just a modified Graze?

It uses the Graze frame, but it is a separate prototype from Gjallarhorn's Alaya-Vijnana research, not a field conversion. Its proportions, cockpit and weapons suit a pilot wired into the machine.

2. Why could no one else pilot the Graze Ein?

It needs the Alaya-Vijnana implants, which Gjallarhorn's regular pilots would not accept. It stayed a research unit until Ein, already badly injured, was given the surgery.

3. What are the pile bunkers?

Single-use launchers under each forearm that drive a short spiked rod in hard enough to pierce Nanolaminate Armor. The holder is ejected after firing.
