Alphen

Alphen is the protagonist of Tales of Arise, Bandai Namco's 2021 Tales game. He begins as a masked Dahnan slave in Calaglia, known only as Iron Mask, with no memory of his past and no ability to feel pain.

What makes Alphen stand out

• The mask comes off in pieces It half-shatters in the fight against the region's lord, and his name comes back with it; the rest is destroyed much later.
• A sword that burns its wielder He pulls the Blazing Sword out of the astral energy in a Master Core. Feeling nothing is what lets him hold it, and the burns it leaves still need healing.
• The resistance's figurehead The sword turns a nameless slave into a symbol, and the Crimson Crows recruit him for it.
