The AL-97B-var Hannibal is the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force's frontline military Labor in Mobile Police Patlabor, a rework of Hishii Heavy Industries' AL-97B Samson.
What it does in the story
It opens Patlabor 2: The Movie in white UN paint, walking into an ambush it cannot answer: permission to fire never comes.
What makes it different
The cockpit moved left.
Hishii took it off the centreline and cut the crew from two to one. A moving sensor on the hull follows the pilot's head and feeds his helmet display.
Simpler guns.
The Samson's mixed battery gave way to a 20 mm gatling under the cockpit, plus a three-tube launcher on the left forearm; the searchlight became a removable hardpoint.
What this collection covers
Kotobukiya sells both: a dark green JGSDF machine with a gatling gun, decals and a fixed-pose alternative body, and the white PKO version with fingers that move one at a time.
