AGX-04 Gerbera Tetra is the prototype assault mobile suit Cima Garahau flies in Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory (1991, U.C. 0083). It began as the fourth unit of the Earth Federation's Gundam Development Project, the RX-78GP04G Gerbera, and an Anaheim Electronics division staffed largely by former Zeonic engineers finished it as something else.
What it does in the story
The GP04 role overlapped the space-use GP01, so the project was cancelled with the machine half built. The division that produced it reworked the design to disguise its origin, and Anaheim's vice-president O'Sullivan handed the suit to Cima as a gesture toward the Delaz Fleet. She flies it in the closing stage of Operation Stardust, where Kou Uraki's Dendrobium runs it through on a beam cannon.
What makes it different
-
It is a Gundam that was never allowed to be one.
The suit left Anaheim under an AGX number with Zeon-style styling and a new head fitted by Cima's fleet, so nothing outside points back to the Federation project. Its job did not change: one machine penetrating an enemy formation, the Kämpfer's tactic.
-
Four machine cannons sit in the forearms.
Two 110mm cannons per forearm, fed from magazines at the elbows, are considerably stronger than the 60mm head vulcans of Gundam and GM types, and their rate of fire covers mid to close range where the suit fights.
-
The beam machine gun has a hard cooling limit.
The X-04 fires pulse-shaped beams continuously, with a cooling jacket on the barrel and a coolant tank below it. At its limit the stock slides back for forced cooling, a limiter cuts the rapid-fire mode, and a fresh tank is needed.
-
The booster is thrown away on arrival.
The Stürm Booster combines propellant tanks with extra verniers so the suit reaches the front line without spending its own propellant, then is purged. Two ejectable tanks can be added for range.
How big is it?
- Overall height: 18.0 m, according to Bandai's official spec
- Weight: 46.7 t base and 73.2 t full, rising to 48.5 t and 86.0 t with the Stürm Booster fitted
- 1/144: roughly 12.5 cm

Frequently asked questions
1. Is the Gerbera Tetra just the GP04 with a new paint job?
It is the cancelled RX-78GP04G Gerbera rebuilt. Anaheim's former Zeonic staff revised the design to hide its origin, and Cima's fleet fitted a new head, hence the AGX number.
2. Why does a Federation project end up in Cima's hands?
The division that built it came out of the Zeonic Company and kept its loyalty to Zeon, and it made contact with the Delaz Fleet. Anaheim's vice-president then gave the suit to Cima, who was working with Delaz.
3. What is the Stürm Booster for?
It is a combined propellant tank and vernier pack that carries the suit to the front line without burning its own fuel, then gets dropped. It takes base weight from 46.7 t to 48.5 t and full weight from 73.2 t to 86.0 t.
4. Which parts of the Gerbera Tetra are not GP04 parts?
The head is the clearest change, fitted by the Cima Fleet after Anaheim rolled it out. The rest is a revised GP04 rather than a new machine, which is why the two sit close in proportion.
