AGE-FX Gundam AGE-FX

AGE-FX Gundam AGE-FX is the successor to the AGE-3 in the Three Generation Arc of Mobile Suit Gundam AGE (2011–12, A.G. 164), built from that suit's combat data after it was lost in the Mars Sphere. Kio Asuno, an X-Rounder, pilots it. FX stands for Follow X-Rounder.

What it does in the story

Kio debuts it at the Federation operation to retake the lunar base, a month after the AGE-3 is destroyed, using the C-Funnels to strike one point on an enemy suit instead of shooting it down. In that battle the Stungle Rifle runs low on ammunition as Zeheart's Ghirarga and Fram's Fawn Farsia close in.

What makes it different

• Fourteen C-Funnels are the main weapon. Six large and eight small blade-shaped funnels are steered through the Psycho-Follow System. They cut, block fire and link into a spherical barrier, and the large ones move to the forearms as blades.
• The Core Fighter is a backpack. On the AGE-3 it supplied the head, controls and propulsion. Here it does the last two and attaches to the back, carrying two large C-Funnels with room for two small ones.
• FX Burst Mode trades accuracy for reach. With the limiters off, mobility peaks and accuracy drops, so the mode clears large groups rather than winning duels. The armour turns blue and blades fire from ports around the body.
• The wear system is gone. Earlier Gundams swapped wear parts to change role. The AGE-FX drops the system entirely and is built as light as possible, with the AGE System and Psycho-Follow System doing the work.

How big is it?

• Overall height: 18.5 m, with an empty weight of 63.0 t, according to Bandai's published spec
• 1/144: roughly 13 cm
