AGE-2 Gundam AGE-2 Normal is the second Gundam built with the AGE System, developed from the AGE-1's combat data for the Earth Federation Forces in Mobile Suit Gundam AGE (2011, Advanced Generation, A.G. 141). It is Asemu Asuno's machine through the series' second arc, tuned around the way he flew the AGE-1.
What it does in the story
The AGE-2 first sortied in A.G. 141 against a Vagan attack on the Federation ship Diva, and Asemu took it into his first serious exchange with Zeheart Galette's Zeydra. At Big Ring he fought beside Woolf Enneacle's G-Bouncer, and after Solon City the suit was rebuilt into the AGE-2 Double Bullet.
What makes it different
-
It has a fighter form that outruns its own mobile suit form.
The AGE-2 converts into what the series calls Strider Form, a fighter-like configuration that flies at three times the speed of its MS form and can make an atmospheric entry. Repulsor technology taken from the AGE-1 Spallow is built into the shoulder wings that carry it.
-
The rifle doubles as the nose of that fighter.
The Hyper DODS Rifle is twice as powerful as the DODS Rifle it replaces and is credited with penetrating two mobile suits with a single shot. In Strider Form the rifle becomes the nose of the aircraft, so the main weapon and the airframe shape are the same part.
-
Its limbs come off as complete wear sets.
The arms, shoulder armour included, and the legs detach so a different wear can be fitted. The AGE System reads combat data, fabricates the new parts, and an AMEMBO support craft can deliver them mid-battle so the suit does not have to return to its base.
How big is it?
- Overall height: 18.3 m according to Bandai's official spec
- 1/144: roughly 13 cm, covering the HGAGE kit
- 1/100: roughly 18 cm, covering the Master Grade

Frequently asked questions
1. Can the AGE-2 launch without the AGE Device?
No. The AGE System only runs with the AGE Device, and the suit cannot be mobilised without it. The same device is what lets the system read the pilot's combat data and produce new wear parts.
2. How is the AGE-2 Normal different from the Double Bullet?
The Double Bullet is a different wear set built on the same AGE-2, fitted after the fighting at Solon City, and it has its own page in the collection. The machine described here is the Normal form Asemu flies before that change.
3. What is the SP Colors version?
A repaint. In A.G. 142 the AGE-2 Normal was finished in white in honour of Woolf Enneacle, and the series calls that scheme SP Colors. The rifle, shield, sabres and vulcans are the same.
4. Why are the beam vulcans only usable in Strider Form?
The pair sits in the shoulders and is used in Strider Form to intercept enemy machines and incoming missiles. In mobile suit form the suit works with the rifle, the two beam sabres on the rear waist and the shield.
