MGSD Gunpla Lineup 2026: Every MGSD Kit Released So Far, Compared

The MGSD (Master Grade Super Deformed) line has quickly become one of the most exciting Gunpla series from Bandai Namco Holdings. It combines the compact and cute SD proportions with the incredible engineering and detail usually found in Master Grade kits.

Honestly, MGSD feels like the perfect middle ground for builders who want:

  • impressive articulation,
  • premium details,
  • easier shelf display,
  • and a faster build compared to full-size MG kits.

Even people who normally don’t collect SD Gunpla often end up loving the MGSD lineup because the proportions still look powerful and stylish instead of overly chibi.

Here’s the complete current MGSD Gunpla lineup, including release dates, prices, order links, and some natural personal thoughts from a builder’s perspective.

1. MGSD Freedom Gundam

Release Date: January 2023
Grade: Master Grade Super Deformed (MGSD)
Series: Mobile Suit Gundam SEED

IN STOCK — ORDER HERE

Why This Kit Became So Popular

Freedom Gundam was the very first MGSD release, and it instantly showed how serious Bandai was about this new line.

The standout feature is definitely the internal frame and the layered clear parts that create amazing light reflection effects. For such a compact kit, the amount of detail feels almost unreal.

The wings are also surprisingly dynamic and expressive. Once posed on a stand, it honestly looks like a miniature MGEX-style display piece.

This kit still feels like the “identity” of the MGSD line. The proportions are super clean, and the build experience feels premium from start to finish.

If someone asked me which MGSD to buy first, Freedom Gundam would still be one of the safest recommendations.

2. MGSD Gundam Barbatos

Release Date: October 2023
Grade: Master Grade Super Deformed (MGSD)
Series: Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans

OUT OF STOCK — SET A RESTOCK ALERT

What Makes Barbatos Special

Barbatos brought the iconic Gundam Frame design into the MGSD lineup, and Bandai absolutely cooked with this release.

The exposed pistons, mechanical frame details, and aggressive proportions fit Barbatos perfectly. The articulation is especially impressive for an SD kit, allowing powerful melee poses with the mace and sword.

The metallic reflective parts inside the chest and shoulders also give the kit a premium look even without painting.

Personally, this is one of the most fun MGSD kits to pose. It just has so much attitude.

The proportions feel heavier and more muscular compared to Freedom Gundam, which matches the Iron-Blooded Orphans aesthetic perfectly. If you love aggressive-looking mobile suits, this one is hard to beat.

3. MGSD Wing Gundam Zero EW

Release Date: November 2024
Grade: Master Grade Super Deformed (MGSD)
Series: Mobile Suit Gundam Wing

OUT OF STOCK — SET A RESTOCK ALERT

Beautiful Wings and Elegant Design

Wing Zero EW already has one of the most iconic Gundam silhouettes ever, so seeing it in MGSD form was honestly inevitable.

The feather wings are the main attraction here. Bandai designed them with layered articulation and excellent separation, making the kit look gorgeous in aerial poses.

The twin buster rifle also scales surprisingly well with the SD proportions, giving the kit a dramatic presence despite its smaller size.

This might be the prettiest MGSD kit visually.

Even people who are not huge Wing fans usually stop and stare at this one on display. The wings just dominate the shelf in the best possible way.

4. MGSD Gundam Aerial

Release Date: August 2025
Grade: Master Grade Super Deformed (MGSD)
Series:  Mobile Suit Gundam The Witch from Mercury

Modern Design Meets MGSD Engineering

Aerial fits the MGSD style surprisingly well because its original design already has clean layering and futuristic armor separation.

The clear shell units and color separation look fantastic straight out of the box. The beam effects and shield bits also add a lot of display options.

Bandai also managed to preserve Aerial’s sleek proportions while still making it look powerful in SD form.

This kit feels extremely modern compared to the earlier MGSD releases.

The build is cleaner and more refined, and the final result looks amazing even with minimal panel lining. If you like contemporary Gundam designs, this is an easy recommendation.

5. MGSD Destiny Gundam

Release Date: February 2026
Grade: Master Grade Super Deformed (MGSD)
Series: Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny

IN STOCK — ORDER HERE

The Most Dynamic MGSD Yet?

Destiny Gundam feels like Bandai pushing the MGSD line even further.

Between the Wings of Light effect compatibility, sharp armor design, and massive weapon loadout, this kit has incredible shelf presence despite its SD size.

The effect parts especially make it look explosive in action poses.

This kit feels “extra” in the best way possible.

Everything about Destiny Gundam screams high energy and anime-style action. It’s probably one of the most eye-catching MGSD kits for photography and dynamic posing.

6. MGSD Kshatriya

Release Date: September 2026
Grade: Master Grade Super Deformed (MGSD)
Series: Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn

PRE-ORDER ALLOCATION FILLED — JOIN THE RESTOCK LIST

The Most Ambitious MGSD So Far

Kshatriya is honestly a crazy choice for the MGSD line — and that’s exactly why fans are excited.

The massive binders, huge silhouette, and overwhelming presence could make this the largest and most complex MGSD release yet.

Seeing a bulky Universal Century design translated into MGSD proportions is incredibly refreshing after several slimmer Gundam-type releases.

This is probably the MGSD kit I’m personally most excited for right now.

Kshatriya already has one of the coolest silhouettes in Gundam history, and turning it into a highly detailed SD masterpiece sounds amazing. It genuinely feels like Bandai is becoming more confident and experimental with the MGSD line.

Just Announced: MGSD 00 Raiser

Announced: August 25, 2026
Release Date: March 2027 (Japan)
Grade: Master Grade Super Deformed (MGSD)
Series: Mobile Suit Gundam 00

Bandai revealed the MGSD 00 Raiser during its August 25 Gunpla announcement livestream, bringing Celestial Being’s Twin Drive machine into the MGSD line for the first time.

The kit recreates the full 00 Raiser combination, and the 0 Raiser separates from the 00 Gundam so either configuration can be displayed. The shoulder-mounted GN Drives rotate open to expose their clear parts — an MGSD-original gimmick that the larger 00 kits don’t have.

Announced accessories include two GN Sword IIs, the oversized GN Sword III, two GN Shields, and two GN Beam Sabers, plus dedicated beam effect parts for both sword types. The GN Sword II and GN Shield also connect together for the combined display configuration.

Japanese retail is listed at 6,050 yen. Bandai has not announced a North American MSRP yet, but pre-orders are open now at P-Rex Hobby — shipped from our Vancouver-area warehouse, so Canadian builders skip the cross-border duties and brokerage fees.

Why MGSD Became One of the Best Modern Gunpla Lines

A lot of builders originally thought MGSD would just be a novelty SD series. But after several releases, it’s pretty clear Bandai is treating this line as a premium category.

The biggest strengths of MGSD are:

  • excellent articulation,
  • compact display size,
  • premium inner frame details,
  • amazing color separation,
  • and beginner-friendly builds with high-end results.

Even online communities have been praising how solid and enjoyable these kits feel to build.

For many collectors, MGSD is becoming a “must-buy regardless of series” kind of lineup.
