High Grade (HG) is Bandai's standard 1/144 scale Gunpla line, launched in March 1990. HG kits cover mobile suits from many Gundam series, with series sub-lines such as HGUC, HGIBO and HG The Witch from Mercury.
At the same 1/144 scale, Real Grade (RG) aims for more realistic detail; for a larger kit, Master Grade (MG) is 1/100 scale. If this is your first kit, Entry Grade is Bandai's easiest line. See our grade guide for a side-by-side comparison.
P-Rex Hobby is a Bandai Recommended Hobby Store, listed on the Bandai Hobby Store Locator. Orders ship from Vancouver; U.S. orders ship with duties prepaid. Kits that are not out yet are listed in Gundam Pre-Order, and the latest kits in New Release Gundam.
What scale are HG Gundam kits?
High Grade kits are 1/144 scale. Bandai launched the line in 1990 as its standard 1/144 Gunpla brand.
What is the difference between HG and RG?
Both are 1/144 scale. Bandai positions Real Grade as a 1/144 line that pursues a more realistic look, while High Grade is its standard 1/144 line.
Do these kits need glue?
No. Bandai introduced its snap-fit method in 1987, so the parts go together without adhesive.
What tools do I need?
Bandai recommends a modeling nipper to trim each part from its runner. Entry Grade is the exception: its touch gates can be separated by hand.
