AMS-119 Geara Doga is Neo Zeon's standard mobile suit in Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack (1988, U.C. 0093). Anaheim Electronics' Granada factory produced roughly a hundred of them for Char Aznable's forces, and Bandai's own description places the design in the line of the One Year War's Zaku: simple structure, many optional weapons, high cost-performance. It has no fixed pilot, though aces such as Rezin Schnyder flew machines in personal colours.
What it does in the story
Geara Dogas form the bulk of Char's order of battle in the Second Neo Zeon War, flown by Rezin Schnyder and other pilots against the Earth Federation's Londo Bell task force. The type outlives the film: surviving units are repainted with the Sleeves' markings and are still holding Palau's defence line in U.C. 0096.
What makes it different
-
Only two weapons are fixed to the frame.
The Geara Doga's built-in armament is a beam sword-axe and a shock anchor. The sword-axe has two beam emitters, so it can form a sword blade for reach, a pick for penetration, or an axe blade for cutting, and it stows on the rear skirt armour.
-
The shield doubles as the launcher rack.
A foldable shield on the left forearm carries a pair of two-tube grenade launchers on its back and clips for four Sturm Fausts, and its angle can be adjusted for defence or for firing. The Sturm Fausts are unguided, so they are used at short range or fired straight from the rack.
-
The mono-eye trades tracking for reach.
The head uses an old Zeonic-style mono-eye that picks up targets at long range for a faster first strike, but its target tracking is more limited once the fight closes to combat range.
-
A backpack swap turns it into a minelayer.
The standard backpack can be replaced with a unit built for colony-suppression work that carries 14 space mines. That is the only factory-issue equipment swap listed for the type.
How big is it?
- Overall height: 20.0 m, the same figure at the head, according to Bandai's official spec
- 1/144: roughly 14 cm
- 1/100: roughly 20 cm

Frequently asked questions
1. Is the Geara Doga a Zaku?
No, but Bandai describes it as following the Zaku's lineage. It is a separate Neo Zeon design from U.C. 0093, built by Anaheim's Granada factory, with Zaku-style mono-eye sensors and olive green as the standard finish.
2. How does the commander type differ from the standard machine?
The commander machine carries a single-muzzle beam machine gun that switches between rapid beam machine gun fire and a higher-output, longer-range beam rifle mode. The standard type has two muzzles for rapid fire and can take a grenade launcher under the barrel. The HGUC kit lets you build either head.
3. Why does a U.C. 0093 machine turn up in Unicorn?
Surviving units were given the Sleeves' decorations and kept in front-line service in U.C. 0096, three years after the Second Neo Zeon War. That repaint is the reason the type has Unicorn-era kits and colour schemes.
4. What connects the Geara Doga to the Jagd Doga?
The Jagd Doga's basic frame is a rebuilt Geara Doga, fitted with a larger generator plus Psycho-frame and a small Psycommu, and six funnels in two shoulder pods. Bandai states the frame relationship directly in its own description of the Jagd Doga.
