What is Entry Grade Gundam?
Entry grade Gundam kits are scale models of mobile suits from theGundammetaseries on a 1/144 scale. Introduced in 2011 and rebooted in 2020, these kits are made in China and marketed towards emerging Asian markets. They are similar to First Grade or No Grade 1/144 series gunpla beginner kits but have a few twists added that make them quite unique.
Features of Entry Grade Kits
No Polycaps: Unlike other Gunpla kits, Entry Grade kits do not contain polycaps. That is fewer parts and easier assembly.
Three Colors: The Gundams for beginners kitis molded in only three colors. That reduces the pain of painting.
Parts Separator: Each Gundam building set has a parts separator, thus no need for a pair of nippers.
Limited Articulation: The articulation is limited, being in the neck, shoulders, hips, and ankles. The limbs are molded in 1-3 pieces each and hollow on one side.
No Standalone Manual: Instructions are printed on the backside of the Gundam model kits for beginners, making it easy to follow.
History:Bandai
Bandai's Entry Grade (EG) line debuted in 2011, targeting emerging Asian markets with simplified 1/144 scale kits requiring minimal tools. Designed for beginners, these kits provide an accessible entry into Gunpla building. Notably, the 2025 release of the RX-78F00/E Gundam commemorated the Gundam NEXT Future Pavilion at Expo 2025.
