Description
Discover the legendary battleship Missouri, a monumental piece of U.S. naval history, now available as a detailed model kit. Authorized by the United States Congress in 1939 and laid down in 1941 at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, the Missouri was launched in January 1944 and commissioned in June of the same year. As the last battleship completed for the U.S. Navy, Missouri boasts an impressive history, from her 212,000 shaft horsepower and the capability to reach speeds of 33 knots, to her nine 16-inch guns that could fire shells at targets over 22 miles away.
The Missouri played a pivotal role in the Pacific during World War II, participating in the battle of Okinawa and bombarding Japan. Notably, she was the site of the formal surrender of Japan on September 2, 1945. The battleship saw action again during the Korean War and was modernized in the mid-1980s to include new radar systems and missile capabilities. She made history once more during Operation Desert Storm by firing Tomahawk missiles and her main armament at Iraqi targets. Decommissioned in March 1992, the Missouri now serves as a museum ship in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
This model kit brings the mighty Missouri to life with intricate details and historical accuracy.
[Mold Color]: Gray
[Includes]: Photo-etched parts, decals
