Description
Discover the Teruzuki, the 2nd vessel of the illustrious Akizuki-class destroyer, launched into service on March 7th, 2013. This multi-purpose destroyer, following in the footsteps of the "Murasame-class" and "Takanami-class," is named after the historic IJN destroyer "Teruzuki." Designed with stealth in mind, its upper structure minimizes radar detection, while the unique placement of the 3-FCS-3 fire control systems on the helicopter hangar and the stern flap give it a distinctive appearance.
The Teruzuki is equipped with an impressive arsenal for a variety of missions. Its main armament includes a Mk45 5inch gun positioned at the front of the vessel, Type 90 ship-to-ship missiles (SSM), and a Mk41 vertical launch system for a formidable offensive capability. For defense, it boasts two 324mm HOS-303 triple torpedo tubes and two 20mm Phalanx Block1B CIWS to counter threats from air and sea. Additionally, the destroyer is outfitted with cutting-edge anti-torpedo systems, including FAJ, MOD, and Type 4 towed torpedo decoy, providing enhanced protection for Aegis guided warships of the JMSDF.
