RX-78AL Atlas Gundam

RX-78AL Atlas Gundam is an Earth Federation prototype built for ground combat in Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt, which began as Yasuo Ohtagaki's manga and was animated as an OVA. It is a data-collection machine as much as a fighting one, and its known pilots are Io Fleming and Bianca Carlyle.

What it does in the story

Its first sortie is an intercept: a kamikaze Komusai is launched at the assault carrier Spartan from orbit, and the Atlas flies up and cuts it in two. It then fights in the defence of the landing craft in the Antarctic Circle, takes out several Z'Goks and goes underwater after a Zeon submarine.

What makes it different

The Sub Legs are the whole idea.
A pair of support limbs hang from the waist on arm units.
