ORX-013 Gundam Mk-V

ORX-013 Gundam Mk-V is a prototype general-purpose mobile suit in the photo-novel Gundam Sentinel (1987, U.C. 0088), flown for the New Desides by Brave Cod. The Augusta Newtype Research Institute built it as a refined MRX-009 Psycho Gundam, and the project passed from the Titans to the regular Federation Forces.

What it does in the story

The type had not seen combat when the Gryps Conflict ended. One unit in storage at the relay station Penta went to Admiral Brian Aeno's fleet, and was handed to Brave Cod when that fleet defected on 28 March U.C. 0088. Cod used it to destroy the three-man FAZZ team on his own before Ryou Roots' Ex-S Gundam stopped it over Ayers City.

What makes it different

A pilot does not have to be a Newtype.
The quasi-psycommu reads the pilot's brainwaves however weak they are and turns them into commands for remote weapons. That is the difference from the Psycho Gundam, which needed a Newtype in the cockpit.

Its remote weapons stay on wires.
Two disc-shaped INCOMs sit in the backpack, each with a 4.5 MW beam gun. Every change of direction releases a tiny relay INCOM to hold the wire, and the gun needs recharging between bursts.

The sabers double as cannons.
Two 0.9 MW beam sabers sit on the backpack and can fire as 12 MW beam cannons, the same arrangement the ZZ Gundam uses. Two three-tube missile pods can be bolted to the shoulders.

The shield doubles as a booster.
The Shield Booster mounts on the back as extra thrust, and unlike the sturm boosters it grew out of, it is kept as a shield after the propellant runs out.

How big is it?

Overall height: 25.42 m, with a head height of 22.8 m

1/144: roughly 17.7 cm

1/100: roughly 25.4 cm

Why buy from P-Rex Hobby

P-Rex Hobby is a Bandai Recommended Hobby Store with 20,000+ customers served and 1,800+ five-star reviews.
