When the Horus Heresy began, Ferrus Manus took his veterans to the Isstvan system, where the Iron Hands, Raven Guard and Salamanders were ambushed at the Drop Site Massacre and Ferrus Manus was beheaded there by Fulgrim. His body was never recovered, and the Chapter has refused to accept his death for ten thousand years.
